Here is your opportunity to say a few words about Sid or the
fund. Please keep it simple, preferably short, and for all you internet nerds
out there - leave the abusive stuff alone, yeah?
Don't worry about posting your e-mail address here - it's
quite safe, you won't get spammed, although of course if you don't want to
we quite understand.

Comments: I didn't know Sid, which is probably my loss, but I attended his tribute night at Esquires with Fifth Quarter and GMT, and can only echo what the compere said in that he would have loved the music and enjoyed the company of a lot of like-minded people at the venue.
They did you proud Sid. God bless ya!

Comments: Having spent most of January 1998 trying to tune my first guitar I was ready to do a 'Townsend' on it. Despite not having bought it from Sid he told me to bring it in - he tuned it, showed me a few chords and sent me on my way. Sadly missed.

Comments: Great Gig on Saturday 30.09 at Esquires. Really came down from Leicestershire to see the Good Old Boys but me and the Mrs, and our bass player plus wife were there althrough from the start. Enjoyed most of the young bands, but we're all 50+ old f--ties so some of the music was a bit radical for us! A very worthwhile organisation you have there, keep up the good work, the kids need something like your org. We had to scrimp and save in our day and get chucked out of village halls for being too loud. Continued success to you all. Cheers, Martin

Comments: Having known Sid - and the shared affection for him, I am so glad to see the events are still being well supported. It is only unavoidable commitements (running a pub) which prevent me being there, but I applaud all those organising, taking part and supporting a very worthy cause.

Comments: Thanks Fergus, I really enjoyed your set last night.
If anyone else fancies stringing up their acoustic guitars and having a bash on the Acoustic Stage at the Bed-Rock Festival, we have set up a separate message board at http://www.scruntlehawk.com/phpBB2/ where you can register and post your details. We're going to use this message board as our "little black book" of musos to contact once we start finalising the line-up for the day.

Comments: Just found this site as a link from a friends band site. Now living in Dallas Texas, I was still living in Bedford when I learned the shocking and sad news that Sid had passed on.
He was the fairest guy in business that I've ever known and treated his customers like friends.
I attended his funeral on that sad day but was over awed by the turn out. Probably the largest crowd that Bedford crematorium has ever experienced. A testament to the man.
Sadly missed by us all.............

Comments: Thanks for the words of appreciation, Mr Lewin. I had a great time; It was a blast listening to over 50 talented musicians, and meeting up with many old friends. MY thanks go out to everybody who gave their time for free, helping us to raise £500 which will go towards encouraging new talent!

Comments: Hi everyone, I hope you enjoy visiting this site, and I hope you find at least one little aspect of it that takes your interest. Personally, my first memory of Sid is when he used to run the upstairs room of HMV on Silver Street; I was still at school then, which puts it somewhere round about 1978. I was playing guitar (badly) at that time, so I would occasionally pop for a set of 10's or a medium pick. Mostly though, I have to admit, I was up there with my mate Rob Leplar (hi Rob! how's Kodiene going?) to browse the jazz LP's, which HMV used to stock up there. I can clearly remember Sid sitting in the corner, sometimes on his own, sometimes not, whilst Rob and I perused the back catalogues of Keith Jarrett, Gary Burton, Larry Coryell and (especially) Terje Rypdal...........
