The Sid Worth Memorial Tribute Fund is run by a group of volunteers, and our
aim is to raise money which we can then use to help young musicians. The fund
was started in memory of Sid Worth, a local musician and owner of Live Sounds in
Bedford, who tragically died in September 2002. Sid was a great friend and
guiding light to many local musicians, and the fund aims to continue his good
work.
As some of you may have noticed, the SWMTF has been fairly inactive
since our last (and final) gig; however we were please to receive this
email from David Priest:

I'm David Priest, a singer/songwriter
originally based in Bedford, but currently living in Oklahoma,
USA.
I'm coming home to Bedford in October to
play a showcase gig at The Ent Shed in Castle Road, Bedford, to
raise money for the Sid Worth Memorial Tribute Fund. My band
consists of Bedford's finest and well respected musicians (see
below). The gig is also being filmed and recorded for a DVD/CD
to be sold in both the UK and USA. Distribution of the CD has
already been arranged as is in place.
I am hoping to raise about $4500.00 for
S.W.M.T.F. from the October gig and sales of the DVD/CD. A
limited number of my first single "Scream" c/w "Pain" (Badville
Records) will also be available on the night with sales also
adding to the fund.

SKIN MACHINE are; David Priest: - Vocals
Dave King: - Guitar/s Garry Cutress: - Guitar/s John Morey: -
Bass Jez Green: - Keyboards Tony Morton: - Drums Penny Lane: -
Backing Vocals Marva Meehan: - Backing Vocals
Support for the gig is Sin d'rella and
there will also be a special appearance by Sister Ray. The gig
is on Friday 29th October at The Ent Shed, Castle Road, Bedford.
Doors open at 8pm and admission is £3.00 on the door.

Thanks to everyone who showed up, and who made it such a
fantastic evening! We raised over £300 for the fund,
which will go towards helping young musicians. Click on
the poster for a review of the upstairs gig by Martin
Stapleton.
I would like to add my thanks to the Nimblewits,
Pistonz and Valentone, who made a terrific racket
downstairs and kept the punters entertained long into
the night!

Tragic news from Hub Whipley
Sim, our bass player and very close
and long standing friend, suffered a massive brain
haemorrhage and never recovered consciousness. He was
buried on Tuesday 17th March in his home village of
Cople. We are all completely stunned and crushed and
trying to come to terms with the loss of a great friend
and musician. Those who have seen The Mighty Hub will
understand that he was irrepressible and irreplaceable.
All gigs have been cancelled at this time. The music
goes on, but will never be quite the same. I guess the
great gig in the sky just got started, but he is hugely
missed here!

The Sid Worth Fund is proud to have
contributed £150 to the Ben Poole Band, to help them
with the distribution of their superb new CD. Recorded
at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music, the album was
mastered by their friend and tutor Ace, ex-Skunk Anansie.
We can verify that the CD sounds great, the band are on
top form, and we were pleased to see them at Esquires on
July 4th supporting the mighty Hamsters!

The Sid Worth
Committee needs new members!
We
will be re-electing new officers for the committee in
late May, and we desperately need new people to come on
board and help keep the spirit of Sid alive.
You
don't need to be a musician, you don't need any skills
other than enthusiasm, a sense of humour and the
ability to put aside a couple of hours a month to do a
bit of good for the musical community in Bedford!
All
ages wanted too!
If
you are interested, drop us a line at
